Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an alternative to traditional talk therapy. It involves natural interactions with horses for the purpose of personal growth and healing. Clients learn about themselves by participating in activities with horses and then processing feelings, behaviors and patterns as they emerge.
Our EAP program takes therapy from the proverbial "couch" to the barn, allowing clients to engage in different activities with the horse, with our other animals, and with the environment. Through the experiential nature of the work and the presence of horses, we learn to tune in more deeply. Their stillness and attention teaches us what it means to be in the moment. Their feedback demonstrates the importance of purposefulness in our intentions. And through this presence and purpose, we are able to find our own personal power that allows us to live our most authentic life.
EAP is an effective treatment for children, adolescents and adults who would like to address emotional, behavioral, social, mental, physical and/or spiritual needs. EAP is appropriate for Individuals, Couples, Families, and Groups, as well as Professionals seeking coaching opportunities.
